What started three years ago as Jeremy’s Game, a celebration of the life of Jeremy Bannon who was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident in March 2011, has grown into the Hockey Fights Hunger campaign. This year on June 13, 2015 at 5:50 PM a fundraiser will be held at SkateNation Plus to help put an end to hunger. Over the last two years this event saw over 5500 fans and supporters attend the games and events helping to feed those in need.
This year’s Hockey Fights Hunger Game will feature hockey players from all over the US and Canada. Many NHL Alumni are scheduled to appear including winners of the Stanley Cup and NHL Hall of Fame members. Proceeds from the game, including tickets, sponsorship, auctions, donations and raffle sales go to helping to feed those in need.
The nation’s economic crisis has catapulted the number of Americans who lack enough food to the highest level since the government has been keeping track, according to a new federal report, which shows that nearly 50 million people — including almost one child in four — struggled last year to get enough to eat.
The magnitude of the increase in food shortages — and, in some cases, outright hunger — identified in the report startled even the nation’s leading anti-poverty advocates, who have grown accustomed to longer lines lately at food banks and soup kitchens. The findings also intensify pressure on the White House to fulfill a pledge to stamp out childhood hunger made by President Obama, who called the report “unsettling.”
Helping feed those in need is an arduous task and we cannot do it without your support. Sponsors can participate at any level – from jersey sponsors to individual sponsor packages and raffle item donations. Depending upon level of donation, sponsors will receive public address announcements, program advertisements, website recognition, banner exposure and logo on the game day t-shirt.
Thank you for your support.
